First-year player TreVeyon Henderson has tallied five TDs this season
The New England Patriots matched their longest winning run since the Tom Brady era as they overcame AFC East rivals the New York Jets 27-14 in professional football
First-year standout TreVeyon Henderson led the way with three touchdowns as the New England squad secured an eighth consecutive victory for the first time since iconic QB Brady's closing campaign with the franchise in the 2019 season
Quarterback Drake Maye passed for 281 passing yards and a touchdown, connecting on 25 of 34 passes
The win increases the New England's lead at the top of the AFC East as they improved to nine wins and two defeats, with the Jets at the foot after slipping to two victories and eight defeats
The visitors had scored first at their home field with quarterback Justin Fields rushing for a five-yard TD to cap the New York's opening drive
But the New England fought back in the second quarter as Henderson rushed for two seven-yard TDs before the running back grabbed a reception from Drake Maye at the rear of the end zone in the middle of the third quarter to make it 21 to 7
"It was a key occasion for him delivering, and it's been excellent for him to keep gaining experience," the quarterback commented on the rookie. "He desires to be great."
Justin Fields threw to John Metchie in the latter part of the third quarter to narrow the deficit for the visitors but Borregales booted a two kicks in the final period as the Patriots closed out the victory
