Officers reported they were alerted by a individual who found a automobile in Hanau covered with red-colored fluid

Approximately 50 vehicles have been smeared with what seems to be human bodily fluid in the Germany's town of Hanau near Frankfurt, police confirm police.

Automobiles, walls and mailboxes were vandalized, sometimes with swastikas, they announced in a release.

Police report they were notified during the night on Wednesday, when a individual discovered that a vehicle in the Lamboy district of Hanau had been covered with a reddish substance.

The substance had been drawn in the pattern of a Nazi symbol, they reported.

Law enforcement then discovered numerous other marked vehicles and residential walls in the surrounding area.

These symbols are prohibited in Germany under laws prohibiting the visible presentation of symbols from the Nazi era.

Law enforcement state preliminary tests show the fluid was likely human bodily fluid.

"There is still no lead as to its origin; investigators are currently not informed of any injuries in relation with the event," they added.

City officials stated they were trying "to unravel the incident" and have appealed to the residents for tips.

A high-ranking official commented the attack made him stunned and had to be solved rapidly.

"This incident strikes at the center of Hanau and reopens the trauma of the far-right violent incident five years ago," he wrote on online, recalling the killing of nine people by a shooter aiming at residents of immigrant origin in February 2020.
